Booker has opened its second Family Shopper discount community store.
Located in Netherton, Dudley, in the West Midlands, the store opening had a guest appearance from Willy Wonka to unveil some new products while the first 150 customers received a free cooked breakfast and a goody bag featuring products from the Euro Shopper range.
Owner Balraj Kooner has high hopes for the new store which has created five new jobs in the area. “I am delighted with our new Family Shopper discount store and can’t wait to start serving the local community,” he said. “We have a great grocery, chilled, fresh and beers, wines and spirits offer and also a wide range of £1 non-food items – which all ensures we really are a one stop shop! I am particularly pleased with the Euro Shopper range as the prices for my customers are low and deliver great quality. This is a great store and I’m sure the store will do brilliantly well.”
The discount symbol group, which is available to retailers with a minimum of 2,000sq ft floor space, opened its first store in Bushbury, West Midlands in July.
Booker sales director Steve Fox said there was more to come from Family Shopper. “This is just the start; we have many more stores that will be launched during the coming months and I am delighted with the amount of interest we continue to get from those disciplined retailers who would like to run a professional discount store. The first store is still growing both sales and profits and shopper feedback remains overwhelmingly positive.”
