Budgens has been named as the UK's best convenience retailer in the annual CTP Awards organised by research consultancy HIM.
The award is based on 28,000 interviews with shoppers at a variety of c-store outlets, carried out as part of HIM's Convenience Tracking Programme. Budgens scored highest in the industry on customer ratings across a number of criteria including range, visit frequency and spend per trip.
Londis was named best community retailer at the event, which was staged at London's Natural History Museum, while Booker Premier lifted the awards for both customer service and product availability. Scottish Nisa member David Sands was named best impulse retailer, Mills best CTN chain and Spar-affiliated chain Botterills the best retailer, as voted for by suppliers.
Budgens also picked up the award for best milk retailer, with Mills named best lottery retailer and Nisa best for beers, wines and spirits. ScotMid was best services retailer and BP picked up the category prizes for soft drinks and food to go.
GSK was named best supplier, as voted for by retailers, and best for range and planogram advice.
