Convenience Retailers of the Year the Cheema family have acquired a third site, a garage forecourt near to their original store in Tile Hill, Coventry.
The site is a Texaco-branded fuel site with a Londis store, which is currently being converted into Malcolm’s Costcutter. A mini refit to update the branding and alter the customer flow inside the shop is taking place this week, with a full store refresh due early in the new year.
Director Paul Cheema told C-Store: “We think that by introducing more fresh food and our own retailing ethos into the site we can double the shop sales from where they are now (about £17k per week), and also increase fuel sales by working with local businesses. Fortunately, we have some very good retailer friends with experience of fuel and they were able to help us a lot.”
The family placed an advert in the local newspaper to notify customers of the change in ownership.
The Cheemas opened their second site, a Kwiksave-branded outlet in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, in October. Turn to p22 for a detailed look inside the store.
