● A store owner was stabbed in the arm after grappling with a knife-wielding robber at his store in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
The raider escaped with all the notes from the till at Jitu Patel’s Supamac store. But despite losing blood, Jitu chased him down the street until he was forced to give up.
● A 16-year-old would-be raider was captured while attempting to retrieve his getaway vehicle, a moped.
Reading c-store owner Mohammed Ally was approached by the knife-wielding teenager and ordered to empty the till. Mohammed gave him two £10 notes but when more money was demanded, Mohammed produced a pickaxe handle to scare him off.
The teenager ran out to his getaway vehicle, which he had locked, but instead fled on foot. He was later caught by the police when he returned for the moped.
● A Lancashire retailer was attacked with a hammer after refusing to open his till during a robbery.
The store owner suffered head wounds and was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
The attacker was forced to leave empty-handed and two people have since been arrested in connection with the incident at Manxman Off Licence and Convenience Store on Manxman Road, Blackburn.

A man entered the shop wearing a black balaclava and demanded the female owner hand over money. Another member of staff joined her and both refused to give up any cash.The robber left on foot, empty-handed.
Pupils from the nearby high school were in the shop at the time.
