Today’s Group member Dhamecha has acquired a site in Birmingham for its ninth cash and carry depot.
The new warehouse in Smethwick is scheduled to open by the end of 2017, supplying a wide range of grocery products, confectionery, beers, wines and spirits, toiletries and tobacco for independent convenience retailers and caterers in the West Midlands. It will be only the second site the company has opened outside London, following the creation of a depot in Leicester in 2015.
Chief executive Pradip Dhamecha said: “We have been operating cash and carrys in the London area for over 40 years with seven branches in and around the M25.
”The branch in Leicester was our first foray into the Midlands area and is trading well. As part of our ongoing expansion program, the Birmingham branch will provide an additional destination of choice for customers in the West Midlands and we are confident that it will replicate the success of the Leicester branch - as well as those in the London area.
“Our dedicated and experienced team has, over the years, built up a reputation for exceptional customer service - giving our customers exactly what they want; a large product range in various pack sizes, everyday competitive pricing with regular deep-cut pricing and consistently dependable product availability.”
Dhamecha is the largest member of the Today’s Group. John Schofield, acting managing director of the Group, added: ”We are delighted to hear the news of Dhamecha’s further investment in the Midlands, this is great news for retailers and caterers in the region - and equally great news for suppliers.”
