R&R Ice Cream is tapping into the novelty ice cream desserts market with Nestlé Smarties Penguin Party Ice Cream.
The 800ml penguin-shaped dessert comprises vanilla and chocolate ice cream, topped with sprinkles of white chocolate stars. Packs also include a separate portion of Smarties, which can be used to decorate the penguin.
‘‘The novelty ice cream dessert market provides an incremental opportunity, particularly in the weeks leading to Christmas,” says Charlotte Hambling, senior marketing manager at R&R Ice Cream. “Last year there was a flurry of private label innovation in desserts which delivered 50% of incremental sales to the category and added value as shoppers trade up when purchasing for special occasions.”
