Independent retailers Julian and Jackie Taylor Green are preparing to re-launch their Hampshire convenience store as a Spar.
The store, which is currently trading as a Londis, and claimed the Londis Store of The Year prize in 2011, will re-open as a Spar following a short conversion programme towards the end of this month.
The pair will embark upon a further store development programme later this year with the help of co-investment from Blakemore Trade Partners.
Julian said that Spar was a “breath of fresh air.” The move would also allow him to extend the store’s product range he added.
“What’s more, Blakemore Trade Partners offer us great in-house management solutions, monthly accounting, staff training, and access to Blakemore systems, all of which leaves us free to focus on the strategic and creative direction of the business.
“Being part of Spar also allows us to remain truly independent, but with all the benefits and support of belonging to a group,” he added.
Blakemore trade partner sales director Neil Mercer said he was “delighted” to welcome Julian and Jackie to Spar. “We see partnership as at the core of the Blakemore business, helping us to drive the convenience market forward by helping retailers reach their goals.
“Our retailers are people with a passion for convenience retailing, who often want to create something different to make their business a success – and we want to help our entrepreneurs do exactly that.”
