A man has pleaded guilty at Guildford Crown Court after being charged with carrying out two knifepoint robberies in the same village in the space of five days.
James Elvis Foley, 25, of Horley, Surrey, is accused of robbing the Londis store and the Co-op store in the nearby village of Smallfield on June 15 and June 19, 2007.
In the Londis raid on June 19, Foley is accused of threatening post office owner Philip Munday with a knife before escaping with £140 from the till.
Philip, who was shaken but unhurt by the attack, told Convenience Store he had expected Foley to be caught as he recognised him from regular visits to his store. He said: "I was shaken but the main thing is that no one was hurt. I recognised him as he has come into the store a number of times and although I wouldn't particularly have trusted him, I didn't expect him to do this."
