Three packs come in two varieties: Luxury Rocky Road, Raspberry and Coconut Slice, retailing at £1.60.
Four packs come in five varieties: Ultimate Caramel Crispy, Millionaire Shortbread, Yoghurt and Cranberry Slice, Triple Chocolate Delight and Puff Candy, retailing at £2.
The full range is already available in Co-op Central England stores and is rolling out across other retail units across the UK.
Cake’s expansion into retail comes after the huge success of its foodservice range, which launched in 2011 providing hand-finished cakes and tray bakes to cafes, bars, restaurants and delis across Scotland.
“With the UK’s coffee shop culture showing no signs of slowing down, we wanted to provide our customers with fresh, new and exciting handmade cakes,” said Sam Henderson, managing director, Cake and Lomond - The Wholesale Food Co and Cake. “Having spent 10 years dealing with mass produced products with inconsistent quality and searching for a cake supplier who shared our passion for cake without luck, we decided that we would do it ourselves and so Cake was created.
“Since the launch of Cake nearly six years ago, feedback has been incredible. With demand for high quality cakes for customers to enjoy at home, work or on the go, the obvious choice was to take this winning formula and roll it out to retail, and we couldn’t be more delighted to see it appearing on store shelves around the UK.”
