Today's Group wholesalers were encouraged to be the best in class at the organisation's annual conference in Tenerife.
Managing director Rodney Hunt urged delegates to drive customer service, add value to services offered to retail customers and help boost the independent sector. He revealed that the group traded ahead of competitors at 3.5% growth last year.
Today's and Nisa combined generate one of the most powerful forces in the sector, added Nisa-Today's chief executive officer Neil Turton. "Wholesale members are major shareholders in Nisa-Today's and since a company's duty is to the best interests of its shareholders, it stands to reason that the needs of the wholesaler will be given a high priority," he said.
He added that it would this year focus on the group's promotional campaign, Sporting Madness, and would support the Federation of Wholesale Distributors' (FWD) My Shop is Your Shop and National Independents' Week campaigns.
FWD chairman Francis Ball and Blueheath chief executive officer Mark Aylwin were also among the conference's key speakers.
