Bestway Wholesale has formally completed the purchase of the former A.F Blakemore depot in Walsall.
The 110,000 sq ft. depot in the West Midlands opened under Bestway ownership on July 31. It is the 68th warehouse in the Bestway Wholesale estate with the company now operating 36 Bestway depots, 25 Batleys, three Bestpets and four distribution centres.
Commenting on the deal, Bestway Wholesale managing director Martin Race (pictured) said: “We are delighted to have completed on Walsall which concludes our acquisitions of the previously-owned Blakemore depots. The new depot will be branded as Bestway Walsall and with our current depots in Tylsey and Oldbury (Bestway) and West Bromwich (Batleys), Bestway Wholesale now offers independent retailers and caterers fantastic choice, value and service across our four depots in the region.
“We have already rebranded the Cardiff depot which we also acquired from A.F Blakemore recently and will be erecting signage in the new Walsall depot over the coming weeks. We welcome all our new colleagues into the Bestway family and look forward to delivering excellent service and promotions to the depots’ existing customers.”
Race added: “Over the past year, no other wholesaler has invested in the sector as much as Bestway following our acquisitions of Conviviality Retail, these two Blakemore depots and establishing Bestway Vans Direct, the direct to store sweets and snacks business. This clearly demonstrates our commitment to our customers and our ambitions within the wholesale and retail sectors.”
