Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds has urged insurance firms to pay out quickly to businesses damaged by last week’s rioting.
It comes after stores across the nation faced looting, arson and severe damage.
On Friday, the minister visited Walton, Liverpool, to speak to small businesses affected by the riots.
Reynolds told the BBC that he has written to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) demanding that companies receive the cover they are entitled to as soon as possible.
