Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who could have information that may assist with their enquiries following assault at convenience store in Leasowe.
Just before 9am on Saturday 7 December, it was reported that a man entered the Go Local on Twickenham Drive and requested credit. When refused, he verbally abused the shop assistant and then returned the next day and attacked him with a belt then left the shop.
The attacker returned the next morning, Monday 9 December, and produced a hammer and began swinging it at the shop assistant, who defended himself. Following a struggle which spilled into the street, the shop assistant managed to get hold of the hammer. Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.
Detective Constable Dave Williams said: “This was a very distressing experience for the victim who was left in a state of shock, and thankfully was not injured from both attacks where he could have been seriously hurt. I’m appealing to the man featured in the images, or anyone who recognises him to please contact us. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries. We also encourage people to come forward if you know anything about the incident which will help with our investigation.
