Bill Sidu, who owns The Horsefair Nisa Local in Kidderminster, has donated £2,500 to two local community causes via Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity.
Kidderminster Foodbank has benefited from £1,500 worth of support and an additional £1,000 has been donated to Kidderminster Athletic Football Club.
Kidderminster Foodbank supported local people in need of food with almost 5,000 emergency food supplies provided in 2022. The £1,500 donation will be used to top-up foodbank supplies and provide specialist foods for restricted diets.
Kidderminster Athletic Football Club are a grassroots provision and have teams from aged 6 to under 16’s and also have a disability team for over 16’s. The £1,000 donation will help purchase much needed kits and equipment.
Bill said: “We would like to thank our customers for their continued support through the purchases of own brand and local products in our stores, as without this, such community donations would not be possible.
“Everybody knows that times are tough at the moment so to be able to support our community through MADL has been a real bonus.”
Kate Carroll, Head of Charity at Nisa, added: “Making a Difference Locally are delighted to provide funding and support to these fantastic causes. We know the current cost of living crisis is having a huge impact across the UK so to see one of our retailers supporting their local community in such a way is fantastic to see.”
MADL enables Nisa-affiliated retailers to support local causes with charitable donations and raises funds through the sale of all Co-op and Heritage own-label products in-store, with a percentage going into a virtual fund for retailers to donate locally.
