Sparaoke 001

Spar’s new ‘Make Me a Champion’ campaign is set to transform store customers into Karaoke stars.

With a packed sporting calendar this summer, Spar is offering shoppers an innovative way to win a basket full of sporting favourites.

Running from 22 June 2024 until 13 July 2024, SPARaoke Saturdays offers customers the chance to sing in-store to become their local champion.

Selected stores across England and Wales will be sporadically playing an iconic champion song every Saturday for a month.

Customers simply need to listen out for a true sporting anthem, on Spar radio in store, grab the mic and sing along to win their basket.

Over 100 Spar stores in the UK and Wales will be offering their customers a chance to win their entire basket for free and a chance to enter a prize draw to win a month’s groceries.

The campaign has been designed to inspire colleagues, create fun and a ‘Champion’ atmosphere, as well as provide light-hearted relief from the stress of the football, Olympics, Paralympics and tennis.

Sarah Ellis group marketing director of AF Blakemore & Son commented: “Like many retailers we are gearing up for one of the biggest sporting summers on record. However, we are also in a head-to-head battle for that all important summer pound. Our ‘Make Me a Champion’ campaign is designed to excite and entertain our customers across England and Wales. It’s a point of differentiation – where else can you act out your karaoke talents, become a singing Champion, whilst doing your local shop? Likewise, we wanted to create a moment that would involve our wonderful store staff, who do so much for their local communities. It’s a unique campaign that provides differentiation at a local level.”

To kickstart SPARaoke across England and Wales, A. F Blakemore will take advantage of their new partnership with Glamorgan County Cricket Club and offer the audience to participate in SPARaoke. Fans can bring their best karaoke skills to the big screen and sing along. The selected participants will then Win a Spar hamper from their local Spar store.
