Recent research shared by greetings card company Moonpig in its Friendship Report has revealed that the no- and low-alcohol category is forecast to grow at a volume of 6% between 2023 and 2027, as Brits switch to lower alcohol options more frequently.
However, the revelation was largely determined by the age of the respondents.
The survey from the IFS, which polled over 2,000 people, found that younger Brits are significantly more likely to socialise in a setting that does not involve alcohol, with over one in five (22%) of Gen-Zs admitting to socialising with friends multiple times a week without feeling the need to drink.
These findings are in stark contrast to the one in eight Brits aged over 65 (12%) who never socialise with their friends without alcohol, in comparison to only one in 50 (2%) of 25- to 34-year-olds.
Data from Allied Market Research released earlier this month reports that non-alcoholic beer specifically has “experienced notable growth in recent years, driven by evolving consumer preferences, heightened health awareness and a trend toward moderation and responsible drinking”.
