A local resident has launched a GoFundMe to support Spar Minster Lovell’s security systems after the family business suffered a devastating ram-raim over Christmas.

The heartbreaking blow follows a break-in just a few months ago in September and now the community has come together to raise vital funds for the Oxfordshire store described as the “heart of Minster Lovell”.

The fundraiser aims to raise £10,000 for essential upgrades, including metal shutters, a smoke cloak system and advanced alarms.

Organiser Karen Turner-Dutton said the community “can’t afford to lose” the store and emphasised the need for better security measures to prevent future attacks.

“After the first break-in, the family wanted to install metal shutters, but the costs were simply out of reach. Now, with the latest attack, improving the store’s security is no longer an option—it’s a necessity,” she wrote on the fundraiser page.

Turner-Dutton explained that these incidents have caused significant financial damage and have deeply affected owners Lyn and Dave Lewis, who live above the store.

“Every donation, big or small, will help secure the shop and bring peace of mind to Lyn and Dave. Let’s come together to protect this vital part of our community and show the Lewis family how much they mean to us,” she added.
