The Christmas spirit is in full swing at convenience stores around the UK, with community parties, generous donations and sleighfuls of festive fun. Times may be tough, but communities can rely on their local shops to spread some happiness this yuletide.

Mulkerns Eurospar Christmas

Mulkerns Eurospar in Newry has been extremely busy with a Community Christmas Party, followed by a Christmas Fayre. Store managers Kelly McKeown and McGuigan donned their best Christmas jumpers to welcome Santa and his elves to the store (see main pic).

 

Premier Mo’s Blantyre in South Lanarkshire, helped source selection boxes for Blantyre Primary School and is also running a letters to Santa initiative

 

In County Antrim, Ballymena-based Connolly’s Spar & Off Sales Dunclug has also been helping kids get their letters to Santa. 

 

It was party time at BB Nevison in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, earlier this month with an inflatable Santa’s grotto.

 

Over in Walsall in the West Midlands, H & Jodies had a visit from Pelsall Choir and the big man himself.

 

Woosnam & Davies in  Llanidloes, Mid Wales, has been busy wrapping up gifts for local children.

 

Cordners Comber Road in Dundonald, Belfast, welcomed a buzzing Christmas Market. 

 

A cheeky elf made an appearance at Diamonds News in Ballymena.

 

Elves have also been up to mischief at Kellys Eurospar Maghera in County Londonderry, which made a generous donation of advent calendars to Maghera Cross Community Link.

 

Spar Craigyhill in Larne has been donating vouchers and selection packs for Santa.

 

While Reid’s Today’s Local in Larne played rudolph and helped drive Santa to visit kids in the local area.

 

Customers at Richard and Karen Dance’s Welcome stores in the South of England have been rewarded Christmas treats for finding hidden balloons and elves in store. The team has also been handing out goody bags at local events, including a dementia-friendly Sing to Remember session in Stubbington.

 

Pentland Primary sang Christmas Songs outside Broadway Convenience Store in Edinburgh as owners Linda and Dennis drew a raffle to raise money for the school’s coach for end of year camp.

For the third year in a row, Greens Bassingham in Lincolnshire is giving out Christmas gift bags to those living alone in the Withamside villages.
