Sales of Fairtrade products increased by 77% at United Co-op stores during the recent Fairtrade Fortnight - a campaign to raise the profile of Fairtrade mark products.
Sales of Fairtrade wines performed particularly well, increasing by 300%. Fruit and chilled juice sales were up 152% and 102% respectively, the retail chain reported.
During the fortnight, stores increased the range available and offered 20% discounts. Food group general manager Tim Hurrell said: "It was good to see customers supporting this."
