Martin and Aileen Lovell, owners of Shobdon Village Stores in rural Herefordshire, have been crowned ACS' Community Heroes 2007, scooping the £1,000 prize.
The awards, sponsored by Procter & Gamble (P&G), recognise the work that neighbourhood retailers do. Premier retailers Martin and Aileen came top of an online poll voted for by ACS members and won thanks to their support of local events and extra customer services.
Martin said: "We have gone the extra mile to make our shop the centre of our community and winning recognises all our hard work."
The winners were announced at the Gala Dinner held during ACS' Summit 07 on May 1.
