Barcode Festival 2023 has raised more than £1m for the grocery industry.

The event, organised by industry charity GroceryAid, returned to Magazine London on 6 July for its annual fundraising summer event. This is the first time in the festival’s five-year history that it has broken the £1m fundraising barrier.

Barcode 2023 was headlined by superstar DJ Fatboy Slim; girl band icons Sugababes and Eurovision sensation, Sam Ryder. Other performers included Barrioke with former Eastenders star, Shaun Williamson; Ella Vaday and Kitty Scott-Claus, plus DJ Tinchy Strider, while the M&S Demo Kitchen included celebrity chefs Ainsley Harriot, Rosemary Schrager and Fred Sirieix.

Ticket holders were able to enjoy complimentary food, drink and giveaways from more than 100 sponsors on the day which included immersive activations, a range of drinks bars and food for all to enjoy.

Director of fundraising, marketing and engagement at GroceryAid, Jane Hill said: “We have seen thousands of colleagues, from all areas of the industry enjoy a spectacular event whilst strengthening industry relationships, launching new products, raising brands awareness, and creating new business relationships.

“We are proud of how the event has grown to become an iconic event in the industry calendar which has raised a record-breaking amount this year. With our welfare team experiencing a 44% increase in incidents of support last year, Barcode raises vital funds which enable us to keep these services completely free and confidential to anyone working in grocery.”
