Wholesale group Sugro has unveiled a new badged retail scheme as part of an expanded fascia programme for 2013.
The S Stores fascia will be aimed at retailers who are currently part of the group’s Sweetbreak promotional scheme, and is intended to give stores a stronger local identity and present a clearer promotional proposition to customers. Retail members will have access to a full stock range, including chilled deliveries from drop shipment suppliers.
More than 30 regional wholesalers are currently offering Sugro’s Sweetbreak scheme, and the group expects to have S Store numbers “in double figures” during the first quarter of the year.
At the same time, the group’s full convenience proposition Nearbuy will be unveiled at a flagship outlet in Braunton, Devon early in the new year.
The group is working with Nisa to fine-tune the visual impact of the store, which will carry a full convenience offer. The model will see Nearbuy stores serviced by the local Sugro wholesaler for ambient products, with Nisa delivering chilled, frozen and selected fresh lines.
Sugro hopes to establish eight Nearbuy stores in the Exeter area during the first quarter of the year, before supporting the brand with local advertising.
Sugro managing director Philip Jenkins said: “We are expecting the Sugro Retail Group to change the face of Sugro in the marketplace in 2013.
“We’ve traditionally been strong in ambient and impulse, but now we are working with retail fascias, multi-temperature deliveries, new terms and store categories.”
