Retailers are being offered a free guide to ensure they are up to date with new fire safety laws.
Health and safety training provider RRC Training has developed a range of services to help retailers get to grips with the legislation, which came into force at the start of the month.
The onus is now on retailers to carry out their own fire risk assessment. Gary Fallaize, managing director of RRC Training, said: "Fire safety is a complex issue. The manager of a small shop is unlikely to understand all the ramifications of the new fire safety duties, for instance, the adequate number, distribution and dimension of escape routes and what constitutes adequate emergency lighting and signage."
