AF Blakemore has announced the appointment of Brigid Davidson as the new trading director for its retail division.

Davidson joins the company from Iceland Foods, where she served as head of buying. She replaces Mike Boardman, who is the new managing director of fellow Spar wholesaler Appleby Westward.

Blakemore Trade Partners managing director Jerry Marwood said: “[Brigid] joins us with an excellent track record across the sector and will be a key player in the delivery of our 2020 business objectives.

“The trading director is pivotal to the commercial success of both Blakemore Trade Partners and Blakemore Retail and is integral to the company’s relationships with Spar UK and our supplier base.”

Davidson said: “I will bring a focus on our customer and first-rate customer service is my number on objective. That may be in the delivery of great products, prices, deals or just simply never letting our customers down on service and quality.”

She will sit on both the trade partners and retail boards.
