Nisa-Today's members have spoken of the need to move forward after the election of several new member directors at the group's AGM.
Members told Convenience Store they wanted a line to be drawn under a troubled past 18 months during which a number of factions formed following the proposed, then abandoned, merger with Costcutter. Members said they hoped the group could now be united in a single direction.
Member directors newly elected to the board include Isleworth Nisa retailer Mohammad Saleem and Bellinis owner Peter Bellini. Managing director of Harry Tuffins, Paul Delves, was also elected, alongside Vrad Ltd managing director Atul Amin, director of Michael's Foodcourt Jas Sunner, owner of HT & Co Drinks Ltd Prakash Thakrar and Savage & Whitten MD Mark Windebank.
High-profile members including former Nisa Members Association bosses Ian Hunt and Mark Proudfoot missed out on a place on the board.
Chairman and deputy chairman Raj Chatha and Stephen Jempson were both re-elected. Chatha said the way in which members voted showed that they "wish to unite, move forward and make the company the best it can be".
Newly elected member director Mohammad added: "There's always a time in a company's life when things need to be sorted out and this has been done at the AGM. The members are united and the management has a clear focus, but everyone still has to work very hard."
Another Nisa member commented: "The key message is that everyone has to put the past year behind them."
