Spar’s South West distributor Appleby Westward has announced that managing director Mark McCammond will join The Henderson Group later this year.

McCammond has been appointed retail director of the Northern Ireland Spar distributor. He joined Appleby in December 2011.

He returns to the role he filled at Henderson’s for eight years until 2009, when he moved to Sainsbury’s as regional managing director.

Leo Crawford, chairman of Appleby Westward, said: “The Board wishes to thank Mark for the excellent and professional service he has provided to the company and wish him the very best in the next phase of his career. 

“Appleby Westward has experienced strong top line and bottom line growth under Mark’s stewardship and is well positioned for further growth into the future.”

Mark will leave Appleby Westward in mid-September and will continue as managing director in the intervening period.  A process has already commenced to find his successor.
