Police in a Norfolk town have banned children from buying tomato ketchup in an attempt to cut down on anti-social behaviour.
Stores in Caister have been asked by police not to sell squeezy bottles of ketchup after complaints by residents. A number
of people have complained about sauce being sprayed over homes and cars. Eggs have also been banned after teenagers targeted cars and houses.
Sergeant Andy Brown from Norfolk Police said officers had received complaints from residents, some of them elderly, about people squirting ketchup over doors, windows and vehicles.
He said: "One of the ways we have looked at tackling this is to speak to local schools, and to get businesses to agree to not sell tomato ketchup to young people. We've had no reported incidents since the stores came on board."
