Welsh retailers have welcomed a proposal for a levy on plastic bags by the National Assembly.
The Assembly’s Sustainability Committee is calling for a charge of 10-20p on all plastic bags, which it believes could help generate up to £12.96m for environmental projects.
Pauline Cooper of Premier Convenience Store in Flintshire said: “I think it’s a good thing.”
North Wales Spar retailer Conrad Davies added: “Something had to be done and a charge was the sensible option.”
