Benjy’s, the retail sandwich chain, is looking to use its food to go expertise to trigger expansion in the c-store sector.
The company, which in 2003 announced a £4m nationwide expansion plan, currently runs 72 company-owned and franchised sandwich stores across the country and is looking to develop its offering toward a one-stop-shop, with food to go leading the way.
Benjy’s chief executive Ian Rickwood said: “Rather than come from a c-store background and develop a food to go offer, we’re coming from the other way, which will give us an edge. We are looking to open more franchise stores and also looking into trialling newspapers and magazines in some of our current stores.”
