Blakemore Retail has announced the purchase of seven My Local stores.

The stores, which aim to be trading within days, are located in Rhyl, Rugeley, Essex, Cardiff, Chatham, Lambeth and Witham.

The announcement follows the sale of other My Local stores to the Co-operative Group, the Southern Co-operative and Eat 17 in recent days.

Blakemore Retail, which owns 295 Spar stores, forms part of the Spar convenience retail arm of AF Blakemore.

Managing director Geoff Hallam commented: “I am confident the seven new stores will prove to be a fantastic addition to the business and I am delighted to welcome the staff and management teams to Blakemore Retail.”

The stores are currently undergoing a rebrand and are being merchandised to a Spar format.
