BP is to launch the next generation of its Connect c-stores in London and Glasgow next week.
Revamped stores will open at Hammersmith, west London and Glasgow on October 12, with another six test sites to open within a month. All locations will feature Marks and Spencer Simply Food products and a relaunched version of the Wild Bean Café food to go area.
It features a more American-style design and food to appeal more to female customers than in the past. BP retail director Graham Sims maintained that the future of convenience retailing lay in hybrid stores in good locations. He said: “When people visit a store for something, they don’t want to have to go to another one to get what they want, and only top tier retailers like M&S can do chilled and fresh well.”
Sims added that BP was currently working on a new range of exclusive convenience products and would launch a franchise package next year for independent retailers to run BP Connect outlets.
