Camelot has announced a range of changes to the EuroMillions Lottery from September which includes the introduction of an additional lucky star, and a price-per-line increase to £2.50.
Changes to the game will mean bigger jackpots more often, with higher starting jackpots of £14m and more than twice as many jackpots over £50m a year.
There will also be bigger promotional draws offering jackpots of around £100m, and ‘must-be-won’ European raffle events ‘the European Millionaire Maker’, the first of which is expected to take place at the end of October, creating an additional 25 millionaires.
There will be at least two guaranteed UK millionaires in every draw through the UK Millionaire Maker, meaning a minimum of 208 guaranteed UK millionaires a year, double the current number.
Sally Cowdry, consumer and retail director at Camelot, said: “EuroMillions has always captured the UK public’s imagination with its exhilarating jackpots and numerous multi-million pound winners – boosting returns to Good Causes in the process. It’s now time to re-energise the game and take it to the next level – and these fantastic enhancements will do just that, helping us to deliver even more for our players and UK Good Causes in the years to come.”
The way players play the game won’t be changing. They will still pick five main numbers from one to 50 and two Lucky Stars, now from one to 12. The prize structure will also remain similar, with the overall odds of winning any prize on EuroMillions staying at one in 13.
Tickets for the first ‘bigger jackpots’ EuroMillions game will go on sale on Saturday 24 September, with the first draw taking place on Tuesday 27 September.
