Cardiff independent retailer Bhoo Patel has pledged to continue his fight against Tesco after reviewing the multiple's second planning application for a Tesco Express store in the Welsh capital.
Following a meeting in July with Bhoo and other local business people, Tesco said that it would revise its plans, having taken their concerns on board. However, Bhoo claims Tesco has not made any significant concessions to allay their fears over increased traffic, noise pollution and competition.
Bhoo explained: "I feel that Tesco has played a clever tactical game by delaying the planning application and the public may have lost the will to fight on."
A spokeswoman for Tesco said: "We have worked hard to develop our plans to address some of the concerns raised, including those around trading hours, deliveries and the location of the ATM. We will be talking through our plans with local people over the coming weeks."
Bhoo is now planning a meeting of the protest group he set up. It includes local residents and traders as well as local MP Julie Morgan, who has already pledged her continued support for the campaign.
Bhoo said the group would lodge an objection with Cardiff Council and said he would be asking his customers to e-mail Tesco to object to its plan.
