The Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) has announced the appointment of former Scotmid retail marketing manager John Drummond as its new chief executive.
Drummond, who has worked in the independent food industry for the past 35 years, including spells as trading and marketing director for Alldays, and Morning Noon & Night as associate trading director, will take over in October from departing chief executive Scott Landsburgh, who is leaving the post to pursue other business interests.
The new appointment follows the news in June this year that Spar retailer Pete Cheema is set to take over from current SGF president Hamish Stewart in February next year.
On Drummond’s appointment, Hamish said: “John brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the trade, and with his communication skills and business experience he will be particularly suited to this challenging role. We are confident that he will drive the SGF forward.”
