A new epos system developed by retailers is now available to the 2,250 members of Booker's Premier symbol group.
The system was shown to improve margins by up to 3% in development trials by updating price changes automatically.
The technology also identifies slow-selling lines, enabling retailers to ensure space is given to the fastest movers. It is also said to increase speed of service and improve electronic ordering.
All new products listed at the retailer's local Booker branch are automatically visible to the user, and Premier promotions are posted on the system a week before starting.
"This is a tremendous tool for Premier retailers to run a more efficient business," said Steve Fox, sales director retail. "Our retailers have developed and tailored it so it fully supports the needs of independents.
"I would encourage all Premier retailers to look at this as we believe this will increase their sales and profitability," he added.
The system costs £5,595 + VAT for a two-lane set up, with a weekly maintenance charge of £29.99.
