Nisa-Today’s and Costcutter’s Making a Difference – Locally campaign is on target to raise more than £1.5m for members’
chosen local charities in its first year.
Stores which have begun distributing money collected under the scheme include: Costcutter in Brough, Humberside, which has donated £300 to a local junior football club; Right Price in Sileby, Leicestershire, with a £470 donation to Sileby Day Nursery; and Costcutter, Canvey Island, Essex, which has given £250 to a local branch of the Red Cross.
Speaking at the group’s retail conference in Dubai, Nisa-Today’s chief executive Neil Turton said: “I’m delighted to report that Making A Difference – Locally has raised £672,000 for local good causes. “Consumers have responded well to the initiative and we are very pleased with the way it is going so far. “This will be a major part of our marketing strategy for many years to come, establishing Nisa retailers as truly making a difference in their local communities. I hope it will make our members more successful and make customers more aware of the value of local shops.”
A proportion of funds raised by the scheme is to be distributed to national charities. Recent donations include £14,400 to Children with Leukaemia, £14,400 to When You Wish Upon A Star and £28,800 to Action for Children.
