Landmark Wholesale is urging independent retailers to make the most out of the Easter trading period by capitalising on a focused range and restricted opening hours by the multiples.
Large supermarkets in England and Wales cannot open at all on Easter Sunday (April 12), so Landmark is encouraging retailers to maintain high availability for essential items over the holiday period, as well as being prepared for a possible warm weather sales peak of alcohol and ice cream.
In the Easter confectionery category, the wholesale group is also urging retailers to focus particularly on filled, mini and premium chocolate eggs during the peak Easter season to maximise their point of difference over the multiples.
Landmark Wholesale’s retail controller Raj Krishan said: “Independent retailers can wrestle back some of the market share from the multiples by focusing on the right range and using supermarkets’ limited trading hours to their advantage.”
