Londis’ £50,000 store development prize has been awarded to retailer Natalie Lightfoot of Solo Convenience Store in Glasgow.
The competition was launched in partnership with Convenience Store in February as part of a drive to recruit entrepreneurial retailers who share the Londis vision, and was open to existing retailers not currently with Londis.
Natalie, one of 60 qualifying entries, is an independent retailer running an 800sq ft store on a busy high street in Baillieston, Glasgow. She employs eight people and opens seven days a week from 6am until 10pm.
The store’s primary trade is beers, wines and spirits, tobacco and soft drinks with great potential to extend local lines and increase chilled and fresh produce.
Natalie said: “Finding out that I was the winner has made me feel exceptionally privileged. I am excited about the prospect of becoming a fully-fledged Londis store while being able to retain my local identity and I am confident that our partnership will thrive. It is exactly what I am looking for from a supplier.”
She added: “I pride myself in learning all that I can to benefit the store, my staff and my customers. After eight years of hard work, my little shop is going to be on the map!”
Londis brand director John Pattison said: “This competition has generated a huge amount of interest and we’ve been overwhelmed with the response.
“The standard has been very high and I’m looking forward to working with Natalie on the £50,000 store makeover and watching her store develop and grow during her partnership with Londis.”
