Londis retailer Alkesh Patel hosted football legend Gary Lineker and songster Lionel Richie for the filming of a TV advertisement for new snack line Walkers Crunchy.
The store in Hendon, north London, closed for a day to film the sequence, which features Lineker grabbing his crisps back from Richie after pushing him through a shop window for pinching his bag of snacks.
Alkesh said: “It’s attracted lots of attention locally and been a big talking point. It’s not every day that you get two famous people like this in your store. We closed Monday evening for filming and reopened Wednesday morning, so all our staff were able to watch the filming and serve the actors and crew at the same time. It was great fun.”
Londis will be the first store group to have the new Walkers Crunchy sharing bags in store, ahead of the multiples. It is expected to be one of the biggest Walkers launches of the past 10 years.
