Sainsbury’s at Bells has launched an initiative aimed at helping with local community issues.
The Great Neighbour scheme highlights what the 56-strong northern chain contributes to the community, how it can help local residents with issues such as crime, and encourages public feedback on store performance.
A presentation, already trialled at one local resident’s meeting, will be used by the company’s area and store managers at further meetings to develop links and confidence between the retailer and communities.
Sainsbury’s at Bells security manager Barrie Hodgson said: “We realise we have a responsibility to the local communities we serve. For example, many communities have lost faith in the police, but by talking to us we can hopefully help solve the issues they raise, either by ourselves or by acting as a link to the police and local authorities.”
