National Lottery operator Camelot has launched its new ‘I Am ParalympicsGB’ campaign in advance of the games commencing in Rio tonight (7 September).
The campaign follows hot on the heels of the National Lottery’s celebration of Team GB’s Olympic success, and will include two special EuroMillions draws – one on Friday 9 September and another on Tuesday 13 September.
Both draws will guarantee five prizes of £1m, with each of the 10 new millionaires also winning the “ultimate Rio experience.”
This is on top of the usual EuroMillions jackpot, with Friday’s currently estimated at £20m.
The campaign also thanks players and retailers for their role in funding Great Britain’s Paralympic athletes through buying and selling National Lottery tickets.
Dedicated posters supporting ParalympicsGB have been distributed to stores, alongside POS materials featuring the Rio coastline.
Camelot’s head of retail James Pearson said: “Retailers up and down the country have seen how Team GB’s success in Rio has led to increased sales and positivity about The National Lottery.
“And now we’ve got the Paralympics to do it all again. We hope that National Lottery retailers will make the most of these special EuroMillions draws and display their ‘I Am ParalympicsGB’ posters with pride.
“Thanks to their ongoing support, our players have raised over £80m a year for elite sport, supporting over 1,300 athletes in the build-up to Rio and beyond. That’s an incredible accomplishment, and retailers should make sure their customers are aware of the life-changing difference they have made.”
The 2016 Rio Paralympics games will run until 18 September.
