Convenience store chain Martin McColl is set to launch a major rollout of its tie-up with Wine Cellar's Booze Buster brand.
Following a successful trial involving 10 stores, it is to extend the concept across 200 stores from this month.
Martin McColl trading director Tony Start also revealed that grocery and chilled space would be greatly increased in 2007. At the same time, the company plans to develop a new fruit and veg offer and replace the counters in all 1,300 stores with units that include impulse confectionery and snacks.
Start said that since its management buyout of TM Retail in September 2005, Martin McColl has had great success with branded chillers, particularly for soft drinks. It is now planning to install a further 2,000 chillers and frozen display units.
As C-Store went to press the retailer was preparing for its first supplier conference in London with about 150 suppliers in attendance.
