More than 200 newsagents are among the 1,000 retail outlets to have signed up for Barclaycard Business's OneTouch contactless payment technology.
Shoppers at the OneTouch stores, which include 214 newsagents, Coffee Republic, Threshers, Books Etc and Yo! Sushi, will be able to touch the terminal with their card instead of entering a PIN or signature on all transactions of £10 and under.
The outlets have signed up to the technology ahead of the autumn launch of Barclaycard OnePulse, the three-in-one card featuring Transport for London's Oyster card, credit and contactless capability. Installation of the terminals will be gradually rolled out from mid-September.
Barclaycard Business expects several thousand stores to be able to accept contactless payments by the end of the year.
