My Local has launched a milk and bread availability guarantee across all of its 129 stores.
Introduced on Wednesday 17 February, the scheme promises availability of milk and bread lines throughout the day – and if they aren’t, customers can claim their next milk or bread purchase for free.
The guarantee runs across all in-store milk and bread, including own label and branded lines, such as Warburtons.
My Local aims to offer the guarantee on over 100 product lines across different categories in the long term.
My Local CEO Mike Greene said: “The guarantee is part of My Local’s on-going commitment to its customers. We feel it is important to guarantee our customers that milk and bread will never go out of stock at their My Local convenience store and that they can rely on us for their essential milk and bread products at any time of the day. This is a guarantee that we hope to grow across more lines in the future.
“My Local doesn’t identify the guarantee as a risk because we are confident that we can deliver it thanks to our excellent working partnership with our suppliers. In the unlikely outcome of any supply chain issues, My Local promises to go above and beyond to deliver the guarantee by using another wholesaler or cash and carry to populate the category. Failing that, customers will get their next product for free.
“So far the guarantee has been well received by customers and retailers. Research shows that a guarantee of this nature can have a high impact on dairy sales by winning the trust of shoppers and giving them more choice.”
