Business owners have been invited to voice their opinions on energy suppliers and switching.

A consultation by industry watchdog Ofgem is seeking views from business customers on their experiences of switching contracts. Ofgem’s consultation aims to help make more business customers aware of their contract terms and improve the supplier switching experience.

Business owners have until February 15, 2012 to make a submission to the non-domestic consultation, and can do so at www.ofgem.gov.uk.

Association of Convenience Stores chief executive James Lowman welcomed the consultation, but queried the lack of attention it gives to incorrect bills and meter readings.

Retailers concerned about their energy costs can turn to Convenience Store’s new switching service. Run in conjunction with Utilities Direct, this service is free and supplier prices are updated regularly. Prices are specially negotiated with the supplier, and within six to eight weeks a retailer could be enjoying reduced energy costs.
