The trial of the two men who were charged with murdering a London c-store owner started last week at the Old Bailey.
Davinder Minhas-Singh, 44, and Abdul Qadeer, 25, deny murdering Mahmut Fahri, who was stabbed to death in his Best-in Family Store in Wood Green, North London, on December 21 last year. Father-of-three Mahmut didn’t realise how badly hurt he was and tried to chase the two raiders, who had also thrown chilli powder in his eyes and taken two bottles of whisky from the store. He collapsed in the doorway of a local taxi firm and later died of his wounds at North Middlesex hospital.
Minhas-Singh, who was arrested with Qadeer eight days after the raid, told the court he had no recollection of the store owner being stabbed, claiming that the pair of robbers were high on cocaine before entering the store. Previously the pair had told police that they had been instructed to commit the robbery by another man, and had taken a mix of cocaine, cannabis and alcohol before the robbery.
The trial continues.
