High-profile retailer Paul Stone is set to become Deliveroo’s alcohol supplier for Manchester.
Four of Paul’s city centre Spar stores, including his university store, will supply a bespoke range of 80 premium lines, including accompanying mixers and snacks.
However, the service will be branded as The Drinks Factory rather than Spar on Deliveroo’s website and app. No Spar own label products are available to users.
“We’ve got to try new sales challenges,” Paul told C-Store. “I see Deliveroo drivers all the time near our stores, so why not make the most of them?
“We’re installing the tablet this afternoon and we’re set to go live tomorrow (Friday 18 November). When someone places an order, the tablet will flash in store and we’ll assemble the order in 15 minutes before notifying the driver.”
For the time being The Drinks Factory will be the only Deliveroo alcohol supplier in Manchester, although the partnership is not exclusive, Paul added.
Meanwhile, Heineken is allowing shoppers to order beer and cider from convenience stores, via the new Brew House brand within the Deliveroo app.
Using the same model as Deliveroo’s food delivery service, Brew House will launch across 15 of Heineken’s Star Retailer customers in London and will be rolled out nationwide by the end of the year.
In order to get involved and make the most of this beneficial partnership, retailers will need to be located within Deliveroo’s delivery zones and ensure their stores are well stocked with the selection of Heineken products available on Brew House. Star Retailers will be able to confirm Brew House orders via a tablet set up by Deliveroo before the local Roo rider picks up the order.
The exclusive, unprecedented partnership represents an opportunity for Star Retailer stores to drive sales on quieter week days from a premium product range.
Craig Clarkson, off-trade and category director at Heineken said: “At Heineken we work continuously to create new opportunities that support our network of retailers. Deliveroo alcohol delivery has been hugely successful since its launch in June and we identified the service as the perfect partner to help our customers fully embrace the digital revolution and boost their sales. Brew House has been designed as a vehicle to bring retailers and shoppers closer and we are looking forward to seeing the service roll out with our customers across the nation.”
Brew House will sit within the Deliveroo app and offer shoppers beer and cider deliveries straight to their door and offices within 20 minutes.
