Scottish buying group PGMA is to end its 14-year relationship with Nisa-Today’s on March 31.
After this date, goods will be secured via Costcutter, with PGMA members having signed ongoing contracts for supply via this route.
PGMA, which is the buying group arm of the Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF), has more than 30 retail members.
Managing director Jim Amabile said the change in supply channels would provide even greater benefits for its retail members. “PGMA, its members and Nisa-Today’s have enjoyed many years of mutual benefit and we thank Nisa-Today’s for the part it has played in that.
However, we feel that our decision to move our supply channel will bring security of supply for members throughout Scotland,” he added.
Costcutter executive chairman Colin Graves said the new agreement was “great news for Costcutter”.
“We look forward to working together to strengthen our respective businesses,” he added.
PGMA became part of the SGF in 1977 with the aim of providing a central buying facility for retailers.
