The Post Office has started selecting branches that will close as part of its planned cull of 2,500 post offices.
Post Office Ltd staff are believed to be working in Kent to identify businesses which will be shut down.
Rural Shops Alliance chief executive Sean Carter told C-Store: "We believe staff are out on the ground and expect to hear of individual closures by the end of July or August. We don't know where they will be going next so some retailers won't hear anything until early next year."
The closures are expected to cut across 50 areas, based on parliamentary constituencies.
