Sheffield retailer Jai Singh is switching from Premier to Parfetts’ Go Local Extra format.
Singh’s Premier will make the change to coincide with a major refit which will more than double the size of the store to 1,450sq ft.
Jai said: “We have been looking for a different direction in which to take our store. With the added floor space, the Go Local Extra format will be best suited to what we are aiming to achieve.
“I liked the vision and level of support shown by Parfetts, particularly in the area of store layout. I also welcome the fact that I will have greater dealings with the in-house buying team at Go Local Extra and this will help us source better deals for our customers.
”I aim to be a concept store which helps other Go Local Extra members to expand their businesses, especially through the use of technology.”
He said he was looking at the possibility of trialling Epos tablets and using iBeacon technology, which can help direct customers to the store.
Parfetts’ head of customer development Andy Whitworth said: “We are delighted to welcome Jai Singh to our symbol group and we look forward to working alongside him to develop his business. Jai is a passionate retailer who puts his local community at the heart of everything he does and he will be a very welcome addition to the Go Local Extra estate.
”I am sure his knowledge and experience will further strengthen the Go Local Extra symbol brand, proving once again that our solid relationships with our retailers and suppliers are central to meeting the needs of Jai and other progressive retailers across the region that have switched to Go Local Extra.”
Parfetts now has over 1,100 Go Local retail cub members. It also has 100 Go Local symbol stores and an ambitious recruitment plan for 2015. The Go Local model has three tiers – Go Local, Go Local Plus and Go Local Extra.
